BIOGRAPHY

Shakespeare GUIRAND was born in Port-au-Prince. As a young boy, he discovered his penchant for the arts. However, the political climate in Port-au-Prince forced many including Shakespeare to escape the scene. He went on a cultural journey in Fonds des Nègres, Haiti where he taught history and zealously served his community for six years. He contributed actively to the Alphabetization Mission.  A passionate athlete, he shared his passion for soccer by coaching at the Elementary school of Baron.  He donated a soccer field so the children of the community could play.

After finding enlightenment in Fonds des Nègres, Shakespeare migrated to the United States where he started to paint.  He continues his works as a community activist by joining the Universal Peace Federation and obtains the title of an ambassador of peace.

His futuristic nature also lures him to innovative jazz as well as Racine (Haitian traditional genre of music) but painting has become the only form of art that gives true meaning to his life and to his freedom.

Shakespeare GUIRAND lives in Brooklyn, New York.
